The Cornwall Golf Union would very much like to wish Emily Toy (Carlyon Bay) the best of luck for her upcoming appearance in the US Women's Open - a spot she received after her amazing performance in 2019.

It all started for Emily when she was aged just 8, and her grandad took her to Budock Vean GC  to "have a go" at a golf taster session.Emily was always keen on sport but got hooked on golf and has never looked back.

At aged 12 Emily joined Carlyon Bay and was soon playing off a 12  handicap. On top of that she was selected to play for the U18 girls county team.

In 2013, Emily won the Cornwall County Ladies Championships at the age of 15, the youngest ever winner of this competition. This win catapaulted Emily into the Ladies County first team, what a year! To make her point that this was not a one off, Emily retained the County Championship the following year.

But there was much more to come. In 2015 Emily won the English U18 National Title, then playing off 2. From there she was selected to play for England in the Home International Championships. Emily has gone on to represent GB&I teams and has been selected to play for the Curtis Cup Team in 2021.

Emily celebrated gaining her degree from the University of Exeter in style, by winning the Womens Amateur Championship, played at Royal County Down GC.  Part of the rewards for winning are invitations to play in three majors and the National Women's Amateur Championship at Augusta starting on 31st March 2021, the latter having been postponed in 2020.

Emily tees it up at the US Womens Open, in Houston, Texas on Thursday 10th December - keep an eye out for her on TV. We wish Emily the very best of luck!
