Cornwall Seniors deliver another very impressive win in their 4th match of the season against Gloucestershire with the final result 13.5 - 1.5

July arrived with little summer warmth as Cornwall and Gloucestershire faced off in brutal conditions at the exposed links of West Cornwall Golf Club. Windy and unforgiving, the morning foursomes proved a true test of spin control and composure.
Morning Foursomes: Clean Sweep for Cornwall
Steve Barns & Ian Ashenden - pictured above - made an excellent 3 on the treacherous 7th to go 1 up, a slender lead that held until the final hole for a 1 up win.
Mark Johnson & Dion Keyser produced fireworks with a superb 2 on the 7th and secured a 2&1 victory.
Simon Knowles & Ian Veale were flawless, with Knowles rolling back the years on the greens. Their consistent play led to a comfortable 3&2 win.
Andy Rowe & David Kneebone showed their experience, edging a tight match with a 1up win on the last.
Vice-Captain Mark Blaber & Gary Stone rounded off a dominant session with a confident 2&1 win.
Cornwall completed a 5–0 whitewash in the morning session.
Afternoon Singles: Relentless Form Continues
Keyser carried over his morning form, racing to a 3-up lead and sealing a commanding 6&5 win.
Rowe & Veale matched that standard with equally impressive 6&5 victories, while Knowles continued to putt superbly en route to a 5&4 win.
Stone drove with authority and secured a solid 4&3 win.
Ashenden battled fiercely against a determined opponent to earn a 2&1 victory.
Both Barns and Kneebone added further points with their own 2&1 wins.
Johnson showed great resilience to claim a vital half point on the last.
The singles session finished 8.5–1.5, capping off a 13.5–1.5 overall victory for Cornwall.
Cornwall remains undefeated through four fixtures and sit at the top of the SCL Table. In terms of the league the team now turns its attention to a key clash against reigning Channel League champions Glamorgan at Creigiau on 28th July. Before then the SWCGA two day Seniors Championship takes place at Minehead, where the team will be looking to repeat their 2024 feat and qualify for the English Seniors County Finals once more.
