First up is a Seniors Channel League match against Gloucestershire at West Cornwall on Monday 7th July. The Cornwall team have won their three matches to date and will be looking to maintain their record over the Lelant links.
Seniors County Captain Richard Jones (St Enodoc) has named himself in the team to play Gloucestershire. The frest of the team is: Mark Blaber (Carlyon Bay), David Kneebone (Truro), Gary Stone (Bude), Ian Veale (Bristol & Clifton), Simon Knowles (Perranporth), Andy Rowe (Looe), Ian Ashenden (China Fleet), Dion Keyser (Newquay) and Mark Johnson (Bowood Park). Reserve: Steve Barns (West Cornwall).
This year the SWCGA Seniors Championship takes place over two days (16th & 17th July 2025) at Minehead GC, Somerset, with 18 holes on each day. Each County has to nominate a team of six players, with the best five scores taken from each round to form an aggregate total. The County returning the lowest aggregate score will be declared the winner.
After last year's success Jones once again names a strong team of 8 who will bid to retain the national title. Spearheading the pack and making a county seniors debut will be Stephen Jensen (Trevose, pictured above) who had a stellar year in 2024 winning the Senior Men's Amateur championship for a second time in three years as well as the Scottish Senior Mens Open Championship. Six members of the 2024 Seniors County Final winning team will again be part - Mike Reynard, Guy Norris (both Trevose), Ashenden, Veale, Knowles, and Blaber. The final member of the team at Minehead will be Andy Rowe.
