CGU County Captain Ian Veale has named the Duchy team to face Devon next month at Tavistock in the penultimate Channel League match of the 2018 season.
Veale has been forced to make some changes to the side whose last match was interrupted and ultimately abandoned due to a fire on the course whilst the team were playing Somerset at Burnham & Berrow.
Into the side for the 9th September clash come Steve Davies (Trevose), Matt Richards (West Cornwall) returns having been on holiday for the last match and Sandy Kirton (Perranporth) is recalled. Tom Fox (China Fleet) is unavailable, whilst George Leigh (Trevose) has been selected to represent England at the Italian Under 16’s championships and is only likely to return to England the day before the Devon encounter.
Veale says "We travel to Tavistock to take on the auld enemy Devon and currently we sit top of the Channel League. A win on Devon soil will keep the heat on Gloucester as they still have to travel to both Gwent & Glamorgan to finish their campaign whilst our last fixture is at home to Wiltshire in early October. I will be urging our boys to make a real push against Devon."
The full Cornwall team is: Joe Cruse, Jack Irwin (both St Enodoc), Kieran Faulkner (Looe), Richard Jasper (Launceston), Joe Reynard (Trevose), Aaron Stephens (Newquay), Conor Wilson (Perranporth), Sandy Kirton, Steve Davies and Matt Richards.
