Cruse and Norris are Cornish Winners

Joe Cruse

There have been two excellent Cornish successes this week in different parts of our region.

First of all popular Cornish Professional Joe Cruse (Bowood Park) tied 1st place in the PGA West Regions Cornish Festival staged over 3 days at Newquay, St Enodoc and Trevose. He was joined by Woodhall Spa Professional Dave Coupland on a 3 round 4 under par total after returning rounds of 70, 70 and 66. A nice cash prize was the reward. All of this just days after winning the CGU Cornish Closed Championship at Bude for the fourth consecutive year. Equally popular Bude Professional Adam Curtis finished in an excellent 3rd place on 1 2 under par total. Considering two of the competition days saw particularly challenging weather conditions, these were two super performances. Very well done Joe and Adam! We miss both of them in the amateur ranks but are very proud of their progress. Results

And at Senior level Guy Norris (Trevose) captured the 36 hole Jock Lawrence competition staged at Kingsdown, Wilts. Using the competition as practice for the upcoming SWCGA Seniors Championship in July, Norris shot 75 & 73 for a +4 total and a one shot win over Hanbury Manor's David Lang. Well done Guy! Richard Jones (Bowood Park) was a creditable 6th in the gross competition but did claim runners up spot in the nett element. Results
