Carlyon Bay Receive SafeGolf Accreditation

Carlyon Bay has become the first golf club in Cornwall to receive the SafeGolf accreditation from England Golf. SafeGolf was launched in October 2018, and is set to drive high standards in safeguarding, allowing all children and young adults to have a safe, fun and positive experience in golf.

Dave Watson, the club Junior Organiser, explained that “providing a safe environment for our growing junior section continues to be high on the clubs agenda for obvious reasons. The accreditation is the result of a lot of work by the club, in the reviewing of existing policies, training needs analysis and the introduction of new policies. We received a lot of invaluable guidance from Brad Bodinnar, our County Club Support Officer in what was a very thorough program.”

Brad Bodinnar reinforced how important strong safeguarding procedures are in golf, and added “I hope this will be the first of many clubs to recognise the need to promote how good their safeguarding procedures are. SafeGolf is the perfect tool with which to do this, as it ensures that the club produces evidence to support their processes. Congratulation to Carlyon Bay, who submitted an excellent application to achieve this.”
