Cornwall Finish Bottom of Strokeplay

The Cornwall County Men's Golf Team finished last of the 6 counties competing in the County Finals qualifier today at Cumberwell Park GC, Wilts. The nominated team of 6 were all competing in the SWCGA Amateur Championship along with the remainder of the county teams in a 72 man field.

Three of the Duchy team finished the 36 hole event on a total of 141 (-1) Harry Hall (75 + 66), Joe Cruse (71 + 70) and Rob MacGregor (73 + 68), whilst the other three nominees were unable to match this scoring. (Matt Richards 146 (74 + 72), Conor Wilson 150 (76 + 74) and Jack Irwin 162 (83 + 79).

Outclassing everyone were the Gloucestershire team whose six finished on a combined total of 837, 6 shots ahead of Wiltshire (843). Cornwall's total was 881.

Individual winner was Somerset's Tom Sloman who put together two rounds of 65 for a -12 total of 130, just pipping Gloucestershire's best scorer Mitch Waite on 131 (67 +64)

Tomorrow Cornwall will look to regain some pride in the matchplay against neighbours Devon which commences at 9.00am.
