First Day Defeat for Cornwall

Cornwall slid to a disappointing first day matchplay defeat at Cumberwell Park GC as the Duchy team lost 8.25 - 5.75 to 2017 winners Somerset.

After the morning's 8 singles Cornwall were 4.5 - 3.5 down to their opponents and needed two afternoon wins and a half to claim a win.

This did not materialise as Cornwall could only manage just the one win and a half from the four foursomes matches.

There were morning wins for UNLV student Harry Hall, Rob MacGregor and Richard Jasper and the only afternoon victory came for Cruse playing with impressive debutant Jack Irwin (6&5) whilst the half came from Hall playing with Aaron Stephens.

On Monday 11th June Cornwall will play Gloucestershire with another 8.00am start
