South West Four Counties Team Named
Cornwall Juniors Under 18 Team Manager Andy Mortimore has named the team of 8 juniors who will represent Cornwall in the upcoming annual South West Four Counties Championship, which takes place over 3 days in early April at Yelverton GC, Devon.
The full team is Jared Mortimore Capt, Joe Reynard (both Truro), Ben Browning (Falmouth), Finn Rule, Bradley Barnes (both West Cornwall), George Leigh (Trevose), Simon Hobbs and Jon Rowe (both Bowood Park). Named as reserve is Jamie Barton (Launceston).
Mortimore says "This years competition for team selection has been strong and meant the management team had long deliberations over the final eight players. A number of players were considered but ultimately missed out. The team we have selected has a good mixture of youth and experience with four of the side playing for the full men's county team last week against the Royal Navy. The team is showing good form with seven of the eight all having handicap cuts over the past few weeks."
The format of the SW Four Counties sees the Duchy playing round robin matchplay games against Devon, Somerset and Dorset. These matches are preceded by the all important strokeplay which Cornwall last won on home soil at West Cornwall in 2014.
