Looe are the Surprise Package
Looe GC's A Team provided the surprises on day one of the CGU A Team Club Championship 2015 as they recorded two wins to move into the semi finals taking place tomorrow (Tues 19th May).
With 16 clubs having reached Round 1 Looe first they defeated Trevose as two of their three pairs in the morning foursomes matchplay won their games to gain a 2-1 win for the club. In the afternoon they defeated West Cornwall by the same margin to reach the semi finals where they will face reigning champions Tehidy Park GC, who defeated both Truro (2.5-0.5) and then St Enodoc (3-0). West Cornwall had recahed the quarter final with a 2.5-0.5 win over Mullion.
Also making it into the semi finals are 2013 winners Perranporth who defeated Bowood Park 2-1. Earlier Bowood Park had defeated St Mellion 2.5-0.5. In the semi final Perranporth will take on host club and bookmaker's favourites Bude & North Cornwall who recorded wins over Newquay (2.5-0.5) and then Carlyon Bay by the same margin.
The semi finals get underway at 0800 on Tuesday morning when Tehidy Park play Looe and they are followed at 0824 by Perranporth and Bude. The final will take place on Tuesday afternoon.
