Atkins and Simmons win Junior Autumn meeting

Truro Golf Club was the host venue for the Cornwall Golf Junior Autumn Meeting on Sunday 5th October.

After Storm Amy cancelled much of the golf planned in the county on Friday and Saturday, the stormed passed for a beautiful sunny day for the 35 juniors to enjoy playing a golf course in fantastic condition.

In the Boys scratch event, St Mellion's Joab Atkins scored an excellent 2 over par 69 to win the scratch prize. In second place was Perranporth's Harrison Gurd with a gross 74, beating third placed Edward Waters (Launceston) on countback who also shot 74.

In the Girls scratch event, Tehidy Park's Alex Simmons won the event with a solid round of 74, with Izzy Wakeling (Falmouth) in second place and Eliza Grubert (St Austell) in third place.

 In the Boys handicap event, Mullion's Jesse Hosking won with a great score of nett 65, beating St Austell's Owen Withers who also shot nett 65 into second place on countback. In third place was home player Cody Wheston with a nett score of 68.
