During September a number of Cornish players have competed in England Golf national events.
Louis Archer (St Enodoc) was the Duchy representative in the Champion of Champions event at England Golf HQ at Woodhall Spa as a result of being Cornwall Amateur County Champion 2025. Over his two rounds in Lincolnshire Louis returned two scores of 80 to finish in 21st spot on +14. The winner on a -5 total of 141 was James Glenn (Durham).
Ian Ashenden (China Fleet) competed against 27 others at the same location, as Cornwall County Seniors Champion, and finished in 10th spot with rounds of 79 and 72 for a 5 over par total, 8 shots behind winner Sandy Twynholm (Northumberland)
Oban Webber (St Mellion) was also at Woodhall Spa as our Boys County Champion. Oban's two rounds of 75 & 77 saw him also tie for 10th spot in the 28 man field on a 6 over par total - again 8 shots back of winner Leo Cahi (Sussex)
Carlyon Bay's team of 3 travelled to The Oaks GC, York to take part in the England Golf Champion Club competition having won the Cornwall Team Championship earlier this year.. Sam Crocker, Alec Nile and Max Gay competed over two days against 33 other clubs all of whom had won their respective county team competitions. In Round 1 Crocker shot 75, Nile 77 and Gay 79 to see their team sat in the middle of the pack. The team's Day 2 scores were a 75 for Nile, a 78 for Crocker and an 80 for Gay. Ultimately this saw Carlyon Bay finish in 23rd spot. on a team total of 464, 22 shots behind winning club Rotherham.
Whilst Cornwall had no outright success in any of these competitions, we are proud of the efforts made by all and delighted to have been able to support them in their respective challenges.
