Falmouth's Dave Holland was the major winner in yesterday's County Seniors Stableford Championship staged over his home course. This traditional annual competition saw 104 seniors take part in five different age group categories. The Falmouth course was presented in good condition and with light winds and warm temperatures, a good day was had.
Holland's overall win with a total of 40 points saw him take the top prize and trophy in the 60-64yrs of age group.
St Mellion's Mark Slaiter claimed the top prize in the 55-59 group whilst Stephen Raynes (Perranporth) took the honours for the 65-69 year olds.
In the 70-74yr group host club member Ray Clark scored 39 point to finish top whilst another St Mellion member in Mike Marshall scored 36 to win the 75 yrs+ group where 83 year old John Bacon only lost out on countback.
Falmouth GC Captain Pete Chambers welcomed those present to the club and expressed the honour the club felt in staging the competition. CGU President Martin Edwards thanked the club proprietor, and all of the staff both on and off course for hosting along with the work put in by them to make the day so successful.
