Junior Tour 2025 - Sponsored by Jewson - Rounds 2 & 3 Update

The Cornwall Golf Junior Tour is continuing to grow from strength to strength with 69 players now signed up to the tour across the three categories. 0-28 handicap category which now includes a scratch order of merit, 29-54 handicap category and finally the Golf Access category.

Rounds two and three were played this year at Cape Cornwall Club on Sunday 25th May and Launceston GC on Sunday 15th June 2025. Both events saw large fields across the three categories of golfer.

Cape Cornwall posed a demanding test for all the golfers. In typical style Cape bared its teeth with a strong south-easterly breeze blowing across the course. Cape Cornwall has been criticised in recent years but Head Greenkeeper River Rojano has worked hard with his team to bring about a great recovery to the diseased greens and the course was very well presented. You always have the stunning views to enjoy around this spectacular area of Cornwall.

The scores at Cape reflected the difficult conditions. Charlotte Jenkin (West Cornwall) played some solid golf to win the scratch prize with 28 points. The 0-28 handicap category saw Theo Davies (Falmouth) come first with 34 points, Oban Robinson (St Enodoc) second with 30 points on count back from Olivia Tucker (St Austell).

Sam Berrington (Truro) topped the 29-5Category scoring an impressive 20 points. Mason Farhall (Newquay) followed up his win at Bowood with another good score of 19 for second and Amelia Richards (Trevose) took third on count back from her bother Ollie.

The new golfers in the Golf Access group really played some tremendous stuff in the tough conditions with Charlie Savage scoring a nett 31 to beat his brother Max by two shots, with Jack Taylor coming in with a nett 37. All are from West Cornwall, so this highlights the great work being done by the PGA Professional Nick Brewaeys at the club.

The next event at Launceston posed a different challenge for the players. The course was in magnificent condition with the parkland layout benefitting from the recent rains and warm weather. Again, a breezy day but there was some amazing golf played.

Joab Atkins (Trethorne) won the scratch prize with 31 stableford points. This was his second top spot of the season.  The 0-28 group was won by Luke Harrison (West Cornwall) with an impressive 41 points; 2nd was Charlotte Jenkin (West Cornwall) with 39 points and 3rd spot was taken by Oliver Hanton (St Enodoc) with 38 on countback from Harry Faull (St Mellion).

Mason Farhall (Newquay) continued his fine form with his second win of the year in the 29-54 category scoring 24 points over the front nine holes. Owen Withers (St Austell) was second with 22 points on countback from Amelia Richards (Trevose) taking third for the second event running.

More success for the West Cornwall Golf Access golfers with Finlay Cumner 1st with a nett 40, 2nd was Albert Wilson (St Enodoc) with nett 40 and 3rd Dougie Smith (Trevose) with nett 42.

Each group winner receives a £50.00 voucher, £30.00 for second places and £20.00 for third.
