Hickory Golf and the CGU Get Great Media Coverage
The Cornwall Golf Union's decision to recognise hickory golf has gained a great deal of coverage in various media outlets.
Initially BBC Spotlight Sports presenter Andy Birkett conducted filming at Truro GC on Thursday 22nd February 2024 involving hickory enthusiast Paul East and our very own President Martin Edwards. This was shown on Spotlight on Monday 26th February. A download of an mp4 recording can be accessed here.
Saturday's Daily Telegraph had a page 3 article showing a picture of a hickory clubmaker and alongside it an article detailing the CGU's recognition of hickory golf. The article is shown below.
TalkSport then contacted the CGU and as a result Martin Edwards was interviewed during Tuesday's afternoon Hawksbee & Jacobs radio show. You can find the interview using this link (Martin appears between 34:15 and 39:50)
The articles and interviews have referred to the hickory competition to be staged at Gillyflower Golf in August 2024. And if you would like to give it a go come along and have some fun. Entries will be available on the CGU website from 1st March 2024 and will cost £30 which will include the hire of a set of hickory clubs (left hand included)
