Blaber to the Fore at Newquay
Carlyon Bay's Mark Blaber topped the field at the County Seniors first Order of Merit round at Newquay yesterday as he returned a round of 36 scratch stableford points. Having dropped a shot at the first hole followed by others at the 8th and 17th, three back nine birdies meant a level par round of 69.
Second place was claimed by 'evergreen' Andy Rowe (Looe) with 34 points and his score pushed Mark Johnson (Bowood Park) into 3rd place on countback.
In all 17 Seniors attended this first OoM and Seniors Captain Warwick Holland will stage two further events at Perranporth (18th March) and Bude (22nd April) before the serious business of the Seniors Channel League gets underway.
