Radnor Juniors Enjoy Woodhall Spa!

The Juniors from Radnor GC made the long journey to Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire to compete and represent Cornwall in the final of the England Golf Junior Champion Club competition this week.

Mabel Gosling-Brown, James Tucknott and Theo Hubbard made up the trio and the three of them were treated to proper tournament conditions with a practice round and two days of competition over the Bracken Course. Radnor had reached the final after capturing the Cornwall qualifier staged at the Cape Cornwall Club in May this year.

Whilst not coming away with a win at the home of England Golf, all three thoroughly enjoyed the experience as they finished in 22nd spot out of the 31 counties participating.

On day 1 Mabel scored 30 stableford points and Theo added 31 to the team total (61) where the 'worst' score is discounted. James scored 28 but he made a considerably better day 2 score of 32, whilst Mabel excelled with a 38 point haul to give the team a total of 70 and an overall two day tally of 131. Theo's day 2 score of 31 was the score discounted.

Winners of the competition were Westridge GC (from the Isle of White which form part of the Hampshire, IoW and Channel islands group) with a total of 150.

CGU Juniors President, and PGA Advanced Professional attached to Radnor, Matt Tucknott was impressed with his charges. He tweeted "Fantastic few days away at Woodhall Spa for the England Golf Junior Club Team Champs with our terrific Radnor trio. No trophy but brilliant experience & complete admiration for these 3 fantastic ambassadors for our Club & County"

Well done Mabel, Theo, and James!
