Jack Kevern (West Cornwall) is the South West of England Schools Boys Champion for 2022 after shooting rounds of 74 and 71 for a one over par total of 145 at Carlyon Bay GC.

Kevern opened with a birdie in Round 1 and this set the tone for him as he made a further 8 of them during his two rounds. After finishing his morning round with three straight bogeys) 17 year old Kevern trailed 7 others at the halfway stage. Undeterred Jack shot a 1 under par best second round of the day to move to the top of the field on countback from Gloucestershire County Men's Team player Louis Ross (Long Ashton) and 3rd placed Enzo Cryer (Bristol & Clifton).

Played at the end of May, Kevern's reward is a place at the 4 day National Finals at Gog Magog GC, Cambridgeshire starting on Monday next, 27th June. We all wish him well and on a personal note apologies to Jack for not making mention of this great win earlier.

The Girls SW Schools Championship also took place at Carlyon Bay on the same day. Host clubs golfers Lizzy Nile finished 6th with rounds of 84 and 83, Maddie Watson was 10th (85 + 89) and Ella Grace Crocker was 12th with 89 + 88.
