Cornwall Teams Named for Upcoming Matches

Returning to the County Team - Richard Ackland 

Teams representing Cornwall at various levels have been announced in the past few days.

First up Cornwall County Captain Charlie Phillips has named his Men's team for the second Channel League fixture of the season at home to Glamorgan at Newquay GC on Sunday 26th June when the two teams will play 36 holes of foursomes and singles starting at 9.00am. Cornwall lost their first CL fixture of the season back in April  and will be looking to bounce back with a win against a strong welsh side. County Junior Captain Ethan Tempest (West Cornwall) is named in the 10-man team and there is a welcome return to county action for Richard Ackland (St Mellion). Debutants at the recent SWCGA Championship week in Gloucestershire, Jamie Greet (Mullion) and Dean Tulley (Perranporth) retain their places in the side.

The full team is: Matt Richards (West Cornwall), Joe Reynard (Trevose), Rob Macgregor (Tehidy Park), Richard Ackland, Jamie Greet, Dean Tulley, Adam Bridgewater (Tavistock), Kieran Faulkner (Looe) and Tom Stephens (Trevose). 

Also announced is Seniors Captain Paul Clahane's team to face Wiltshire at Bowood Park on Monday 27th June. There are new additions to the side in the form of Guy Norris (Trevose) and Simon Knowles (Perranporth) who join eight others as they play 9 hole greensomes followed by 18 hole singles against the reigning SCL Champions.

The Seniors team is: Norris, Knowles, Mark Blaber (Carlyon Bay), Kevin Mula, Charlie Phillips (both Newquay), Lawrie Bridges, Gary Stone (both Bude & N Cornwall), Colin Kitt (China Fleet), Andy Rowe (Looe) and Richard Jones (Bowood Park).

Finally the Cornwall team for the SWCGA Boys Championship taking place at East Devon GC on 7th July 2022 has been named. Team Manager Andrew Kevern has announced his team of 8 for the event. They are: County Junior Captain Ethan Tempest, Jack Kevern, Jonty Jenkin (all West Cornwall), Connor Vanstone (Bude & N Cornwall), Will Hardwick (Perranporth), Hugo Watson (Carlyon Bay), Tommy Miller (Newquay) and Harry Drewett (Falmouth). The Boys will play a 36 hole Strokeplay event that day.
