Truro to Host September County Week

Truro Golf Club to host re-arranged County Week 2021

The Cornwall Golf Union is delighted to announce alternative arrangements have been made to stage County Championship Week 2021.

After the original dates in May this year became impossible the Union was approached by a number of clubs expressing support and interest in hosting.

At a meeting of the CGU Executive held last night a decision was made to take up the offer made by the Board of Truro Golf Club and as a result County Week 2021 will take place there from the 12th to the 18th September.

CGU President Andrew Clotworthy said ‘I am delighted to say Truro will host County Week 2021 and have every confidence this will be a very successful week. With the May dates no longer being possible we have moved quickly to secure an alternative.

‘Truro provides a central location and to the best of our knowledge the club has not staged the County Championship previously despite turning out many quality male and female players. We look forward to being there in September’.

Clotworthy expressed gratitude to the Truro club. ‘On behalf of the CGU I would like to thank the board and the club; it is very much appreciated. Similar to last year the effects of the pandemic have meant we have had to adapt and be prepared to make changes when needed. I have sought a position where we can play as much golf as is safely possible and that remains the hope. I am also pleased that we had other offers from other clubs in the county and would like to thank them all for this. We may only have a small number of clubs but the offers have been heart warming and much appreciated’.
