SafeGolf Instructional Video

SafeGolf is a subject which unites everyone in our sport.

Put simply, there is nothing more important than safeguarding young people and vulnerable groups involved in our great game.

That’s why England Golf has compiled an instructional video to help clubs and counties become SafeGolf accredited in six simple steps.

If you need help with all matters Safegolf you can of course speak with Cornwall's Club Support Officer Brad Bodinnar. Brad is only too happy to help you with the entire SafeGolf accreditation process. He can be contacted via email brad.bodinnar@englandgolf.org or mobile 07720 096758.

The video deals with all the strands of accreditation and provides a step-by-step guide to achieving SafeGolf status.

Accompanying the video are two guides to getting your club through recruiting a Club Welfare Officer and the whole accreditation process

England Golf CEO Jeremy Tomlinson says 'For those clubs and counties who are already on the path to SafeGolf, may I thank you for your efforts and encourage you to push on and get over the line. If you have yet to make a start, I would urge you to watch the video and begin the process immediately.

At England Golf, ensuring our clubs and counties are SafeGolf accredited is a fundamental pillar of our core strategy. Initially, we asked clubs and counties to be SafeGolf accredited by 31 January 2021. As a result of the unprecedented disruption to all our lives in 2020 and the logistical problem of hosting the required number of safeguarding courses online, we have pushed back this date to 31 March 2021. However, the changing of the deadline does not alter the level of importance we place on safeguarding.

Tomlinson continues 'Complying with SafeGolf is not merely an aspiration. From 2021 it will become a mandatory requirement for all clubs and counties wishing to affiliate to England Golf. By becoming a SafeGolf club or county you will have clearly demonstrated a willingness to look after your staff and members by putting in place a standardised, recognised and robust system that prioritises younger and more at risk categories of golfers. This should be a basic commitment we are proud to make on behalf of our clubs and counties. By working on this together we can make our beloved game safer for everyone to enjoy.

The Cornwall Golf Union is in the final stages of achieving county SafeGolf accreditation.
