The closely fought morning foursomes took Cornwall into lunch leading narrowly by 3 points to 2. The afternoon singles were equally close. Following fine wins at the top of the draw by Alan Poole (St Mellion), Colin Ross (Falmouth), Michael Hayes (Falmouth) and Mike Marshall (St Mellion) only one point was required to secure victory from the remaining matches. Nerves were on edge as narrow defeats were recorded by the middle order. It fell to the anchor man, Ian Brown (West Cornwall), to provide the vital point.

The final result, Cornwall 8 ½ Somerset 6 ½. Cornwall have now posted 2 wins from their 3 matches played. The next fixture is against Wiltshire away on August 31st.
