Cornwall U18’s bounced back to form in their home ‘Greenaway’ match versus Somerset at Newquay. They led 3-2 after the morning foursomes after wins for Chris Johnson and Adam Taylor (2 up) Alex Glasson and rookie, Sam Chivers (5 and 4) and Justin Barnard and Max Irwin (4 and 3), the latter holing a 4-iron on the par 5 15th for a spectacular albatross to win the match.

In the afternoon singles, captain Richards led the way with a comfortable 4 and 2 win over the Somerset number 1. Much closer matches followed, with Fleming halving with the Somerset captain, Taylor going to the 18th to win 2 up and Doidge beating back a spirited comeback for a half.  At the tail end Linaker cruised to a 5 and 4 win. Needing one point from the two remaining matches, Glasson was one down with 2 to play and Chivers 2 up with 2 to play. Never one to lie down, Glasson dug deep to win the 17th and then sunk a superb 25 footer on the 18th to gain his side the wining point. On his debut Chivers could not hold on to his lead and took a hard earned half to bring the score to Cornwall 8½ Somerset 6½.
