An entrant for the Cornwall Amateur Golf Championship must be:

b) have been born in Cornwall and is a member of an affiliated club in another County
c) must not have taken part in a golf championship of another county or have played for another County in representative matches, including friendly matches, during the same calendar year.

The Championship will comprise two sections:
The first, qualifying section will take place on Wednesday of County Week and will be over 36 holes, stroke play, with the field limited to 72 players. If the entry exceeds this number at the closing date then the players with the highest playing handicap would be balloted out and placed on a reserve list. A player entering the championship must be available to play in the match play stages on Thursday to Saturday.

The 32 lowest scores returned from the qualifying round qualify to proceed to the match play stages. Ties for the last qualifying place will be decided by a sudden death stroke play play-off. Draw for the match play section follows.

If for any reason a qualifier cannot play in the match play section a bye will be placed in the draw.

The second stage is match play over 18 holes leading to the Final which will be played over 36 holes.

The 72 lowest handicap entries will be eligible.
