Senior Captain's Report Cornwall Golfers enter the Seniors Channel League. Cornwall Senior Golfers contested their first ever Channel League match against Glamorgan at Trethorne Golf Club on Thursday 5th May. The league is made up of teams from Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Gwent and Glamorgan. On a wet and blustery day Cornwall lead, after the morning foursomes, 3 - 2. Despite fine wins by David Goodman (Bowood), Colin Ross (Falmouth), Peter Verran (West Cornwall) and a half by Michael Hayes (Falmouth) the team lost the afternoon singles 6 ½ - 3 ½. The overall result being a loss by 8 ½ to 6 ½. Three of these singles were decided on the last green, but, unfortunately, not in Cornwall’s favour. Mike Marshall, the Cornwall Captain, said afterwards that, whilst being slightly disappointed with the result, he was very pleased with the teams efforts overall and in them demonstrating their ability to compete in this prestigious league. The team now look forward to their next fixture, versus Gwent, at Bude Golf Club on the Monday 23rd May.
