Peter Gammon (Trevose G&CC)

It is with deep regret and great sadness the Cornwall Golf Union learned of the death this week of Peter Gammon (Trevose), aged 83 years.

PG, his affectionate title, was extremely well known in Duchy golfing circles and beyond. He was Captain of the Cornwall Golf Union from 1983 - 1986 and County President from 1994 to 1996. In recognition of his service to South West Golf Peter became President of the South Western Counties Golf Association in 2003 - 2004 and it was fitting that in this period the SWCGA Championship Week was staged at Trevose. Peter was also a Past President of the Cornwall Golf Alliance.

Peter's father John became sole owner back in 1955 but it was PG who quickly moved into developing Trevose into its present status as a prestigious golfing venue. Taking over in 1960 he worked tirelessly for over 40 years in doing so before handing the reins to son Nick in 2002.

PG was a great supporter of the Cornwall Golf Union throughout and delighted in all matters golf in the Duchy. He will be very much missed and never forgotten.

The Cornwall Golf Union extends its sympathy and condolences to all of his family at this sad time.
