Leigh Helps England to Emphatic Win

George Leigh (Trevose, far right) was part of the England team which scored a comprehensive 16-4 win over Wales in the weekend’s U16 international at Heysham Golf Club, Lancashire.

England won all three sessions, scoring 7-1 in the opening singles, 2.5-1.5 in the foursomes and  6.5-1.5 in the final singles.

Three players - Ben Schmidt, Taylor Paul and Matthew Jackman - scored maximum points, winning all three of their games. Leigh won his singles match against Reuben Bather 2&1, and then paired with Ben Schmidt to register a 2 up foursomes win against Tom Peet and Tom Bowen. In the second day singles Leigh was beaten by the odd hole by Peet.
