CGU County Captain Ian Veale has named his team for the opening Channel League match of the season next Sunday when the Duchy travel to Minchinhampton GC to face Gloucestershire.
Veale was pleased with the team's recent win over the Royal Navy. "It was the start we were hoping for" he said before going on to say " last year at Perranporth we gave Gloucestershire a bit of a drubbing and they will be ready and gunning for us. We need to make sure we are on the front foot and stamp our authority on the match and obviously would very much like to get off to a winning start".
The team includes England Junior International George Leigh and a newcomer in Jack Irwin. Conor Wilson (Perranporth) is unavailable.
The full team is: Joe Cruse, Jack Irwin (both St Enodoc), George Leigh, Joe Reynard (both Trevose), Matt Richards (West Cornwall), Rob MacGregor (Tehidy Park), Sandy Kirton (Perranporth), Richard Jasper (Launceston), Aaron Stephens (Newquay) and Jamie Crocker (Truro).
The team travels to Gloucester on Saturday for a practice round and the action gets underway proper on Sunday from 8.30am.
