Winning England Appearance for Leigh

Trevose and Cornrwall's George Leigh played a starring role in the England U16 team which beat Scotland over the weekend. In the two day competition staged at Montrose GC Leigh won both his singles matches and combined with his partner to win the one foursomes encounter also.

On Saturday George going out at number 2 beat his opponent Harry Austin 1 up in the morning singles before combining with Callum MacFie in the afternoon to beat Calum Scott and Aidan O'Hagan 3&2 in the top foursome, England had a good day overall as the mixed team of 6 boys and 6 girls lead the Scottish by 14 points to 4 at the conclusion.

On day 2 in difficult wet conditions George went out at number 4 and beat Logan Gillies 2 up. Whilst the Scottish team had the better of the singles matches England retained the overall advantage and ran out 19.5 - 10.5 winners.
