Debut for Vanstone in Men's Team to face Gwent
Cornwall County Captain Charlie Phillips has named the team who will face Gwent at Perranporth GC this coming Sunday, 14th August 2022. With three matches remaining in the 2022 Channel League season, Cornwall will be looking for their first win after defeats so far at the hands of Gloucestershire, Glamorgan and Somerset.
A county debut is awarded to 18 year old Connor Vanstone (Bude & N Cornwall) on the back of recent impressive performances at both Junior and Development Squad levels. Richard Ackland (St Mellion) returns to the side and two host club members are included in Dean Tulley and former County Champion Conor Wilson.
The full team is Tulley, Wilson, Vanstone, Ackland, Matt Richards (West Cornwall), Adam Bridgewater (Tavistock), Alex Hinds, Rob MacGregor (both Tehidy Park), Kieran Faulkner (Looe) and Jamie Greet (Mullion).
The matchplay gets underway at 9.00am on Sunday with 5 foursome games followed by 10 singles after lunch. Support for the Cornwall team will be most welcome.
Cornwall's remaining matches are away to Devon at Churston on Sunday 11th September and finally at home to Wiltshire on Sunday 2nd October. The match with Wiltshire will take place over the Jack Nicklaus designed course at St Mellion.
