England Golf Guidance on Tee Times

From May 17th, in accordance with the next phase of the government’s relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, the number of people permitted to meet socially distanced outdoors is expected to increase from six to 30. This has raised several questions with regards to guidance that clubs must operate a tee booking system until 21 June when we expect to lift the majority, if not all, of the restrictions that have been in place since the beginning of the pandemic.

England Golf have indicated the following;

"To confirm, we will maintain our guidance that tee time booking systems should remain for the following reasons:

 Our aim is to provide clear, unambiguous guidance that has the safety and health of our golfers at its central priority.

Clubs are still required to track every golfer and the time at which they were at the facility so that they can trace potential contacts should the situation arise. Operating a tee time system is not only the most efficient and effective way of doing so, but guarantees that clubs can adhere to track and trace guidelines set by the government.

Clubs continue to have a duty to ensure that social distancing is maintained and gatherings that exceed the legal limits are avoided. Reintroducing unorganised, spontaneous roll-up systems will affect the club’s ability to monitor and manage not only the number of players congregating, but their adherence to social distancing rules."
