Cornwall Golf Union

Geoff Batty

The Cornwall Golf Union was saddened to learn of the passing on Saturday of former President Geoff Batty, aged 83 years.

From Stockport, Cheshire originally Geoff and his wife moved to Cornwall in the early 1960s and joined Newquay Golf Club where they have remained ever since.

Geoff was very passionate about junior golf and served the CGU Executive for many years as County Juniors Secretary. In his time in the role Cornwall won the 1996 English Boys County Finals with Geoff overseeing then juniors including Phil Rowe, Scott Godfrey and Adam Frayne.

Geoff became Vice President of the CGU in 1998 before becoming President himself for the years 2000 - 2002.

Our thoughts at this sad time are particularly with wife Jill, and their two sons Peter (Secretary at Newquay GC) and Mike, a professional golf caddie.

Geoff's Funeral took place on Tuesday 5th December 2019 in Truro.
