Cornwall’s fourth Seniors Channel League match, and the first away fixture, was held at Chippenham GC on Wednesday 31st August.

On a very well prepared course Wiltshire were back up to full strength, fielding their strongest team. Cornwall trailed by 3 points to 2 after the morning foursomes.  This with good wins by the pairings of Colin Ross - David O’Mahony and Alan Poole - Harry Walker.

Following wins by Colin Ross (Falmouth), David O’Mahony (Tehidy), Harry Walker (China Fleet), Mike Marshall (St Mellion) and David Goodman (Bowood Park), the afternoon singles became a very tense affair.  With the scores tied, the final match, between Ian Brown (West Cornwall) and Michael Saunders (Wilts), came to the 18th with Cornwall lying 1 down.  An outstanding birdie 3 by Ian halved his game and  secured a tie in the overall match.

The final result, Cornwall 7 ½ Wiltshire 7 ½.  Cornwall have now posted 2 wins and 1 draw from their 4 matches played.  The next fixture is against Gloucestershire away on August 7th.
