Development Academy 2018 - Applications Open!

Thursday 26th October 2017

Details of the 2018 Academy Programme and How to Apply

Details have been released by Matt Tucknott Director, Cornwall County Junior Development of the programme for the 2018 Academy commencing in January.

After a succcessful programme in 2017 the Academy is looking to further develop and refine the coaching programme and Matt says "The County Junior Golf Development Academy promises to build upon previous year's achievements whilst offering all participants a great value structured development programme which helps support individuals in a fantastic group environment".

Matt will be a busy man coaching the U12 and U14s as well as managing the latter group and looking after the West Region futures. He will be assisted by Newquay based PGA Professional Josh Hancock who will also look after the East Region futures. Add to this PGA Professionals Richard Sadler,  who will coach both the U16 and U18 squads, and Katie Rule who will continue to coach the County's Girls, assisted by Grant Slater, and Tucknott has assembled some of the counties finest coaches.

Fuller details of the programme can be viewed here

Please read through the information provided and if anyone has any questions Matt can be contacted on 07516 637816 or email, CornwallGolfLessons@gmail.com He will gladly answer or discuss any aspects of the programme. Due in part to a reduction in available national funding for coaching there is a need to remind everyone that numbers next year will be limited and certain groups probably will be over subscribed very quickly. Whilst we would like to offer every junior in the county a position in the academy, places will be allocated based on ability and age once the deadline has past. Therefore please make sure you send back the application form as soon as possible. The Cornwall Ladies County Golf Association and the Cornwall Golf Union continue to provide funding to facilitate the Academy programme.

An application form for the Academy programme, which will continue to provide excellent value and a minimum of 5 sessions for just £50, can be accessed here. Applications should be returned to Matt Tucknott by 1st December 2017.

With Cornwall hosting both the South West Four Counties tournament (West Cornwall GC, April 2018) and the South Western Counties Golf Association Boys Championship (Perranporth GC, July 2018) an emphasis for the likely teams will be centred on both of those clubs utilising the best of local knowledge from other coaches also.
