New Club Support Officer for Cornwall

Wednesday 6th September 2017

Golf in Cornwall has a newly appointed England Golf Club Support Officer in Brad Bodinnar - pictured above - appointed to the role in late August. A warm welcome to you Brad!

Brad moved to Cornwall from the Midlands in 2006 after holidaying in the Duchy for many years with family and falling in love with the county. In the Midlands he studied Sports Science & Human Resource Management at Coventry University, whilst starting to build his Sports Development knowledge gaining experience in a part time role with Coventry City Council Sports Development Team.

On completion he proceeded to further his career with Stratford on Avon and Rugby Borough Councils as Sports Development Manager. Brad is passionate about sports and the outdoors and so the subsequent move to Cornwall was a natural fit and one from which he has not looked back.

Most recently Brad’s professional experience has seen him enjoy four and a half years with a local charity as Programmes Manager, building relationships with community members, sports clubs, and educational establishments, with a particular emphasis on facilitating and growing health, leisure and wellbeing projects and opportunities for the local community.

In his free time Brad likes to immerse himself in the natural beauty of the county. He volunteers with the Wave Project on weekends and enjoys cycling and surfing as well as camping with his wife Jenna. Much to her delight he now also has the perfect excuse to develop his golf game!

Grateful to live and work in such a beautiful county, Brad is looking forward to getting out there and meeting you and developing an understanding of how he can work effectively for you and your club within his role. Although only recently been appointed he is, in his own words. ready to hit the ground running. He will be making contact with the county’s clubs very soon but in the meantime if you wish to make early contact with him he would welcome it.

Club Support Officers are able to provide help and assistance on a wide range of subjects including best practice examples & case studies, safeguarding,  club to school links, funding opportunities, GolfMark/RangeMark, junior specific issues, membership structures & fees and member recruitment & retention issues.

CGU President Glyn Rowett says "We look forward to working with Brad for the ultimate benefit of all golfers and clubs in the county and we welcome him to the role. There is a lot of support on offer through England Golf and Brad will ensure where there is a need that support is initiated and delivered. We obviously all wish him well in his new post."
