CL Wiltshire v Cornwall Sunday 3rd September 2017 Broome Manor GC

Cornwall will travel to Broome Manor GC in Wiltshire next Sunday in another must win Channel League fixture. The Duchy Men's team sit proudly at the top of the proceedings with 3 points from their four matches to date, the same total as Glamorgan who face Somerset away on the same day. With just one further fixture to come for Cornwall after this coming Sunday - a home encounter with neighbours Devon at St Enodoc (Sun 10th September) - a win away in Wiltshire and a Somerset favour would set the Duchy up nicely to claim another Channel League title.

For the Wiltshire encounter County Captain David Kneebone has had to make changes to his team. Ever present talisman Joe Cruse is unavailable owing to work commitments and he is replaced by Looe's Kieran Faulkner, who has impressed for some time now and gets a full county debut. He is joined in the side by the returning Junior County Champion Simon Hobbs (Bowood Park) and Perranporth's Sandy Kirton. Junior Joe Reynard retains his place in the side.

Kneebone says "The Channel League game against Wiltshire is a must win game for us to keep alive our chance of winning the league this year, I would love to finish my captaincy of the county on a high and it would be a fitting end to what I can only say has been a great 4 years".

The full side to play Wiltshire is: Ryan Curtis (Bude & N Cornwall), Aaron Stephens (Newquay), Rob MacGregor (Tehidy Park), Matt Richards (West Cornwall),  Conor Wilson, Sandy Kirton (both Perranporth) Joe Reynard (Trevose), Kieran Faulkner (Looe), Tom Fox (China Fleet) and Simon Hobbs (Bowood Park). Broome Manor is a stunning 27 hole course and oneof the best examples of a public golf course in the UK, having been voted the Number 1 public course in the South West of England for the last 5 Years. The course offers exquisite views over the beautifully maintained landscape just to the south of Swindon Old Town.
