Welsh Open Seniors Championship 26 -28 June 2017 Llandudno GC

Four Cornish Senior team members travelled to Wales last week to compete in the Welsh Open Seniors Championship which took place at LLandudno over 3 days and 54 holes. Of the Cornish contingent it was current County Seniors champion Andy Rowe (Looe) who enjoyed the trip the most as he claimed an excellent tied 14th spot.

Following an opening 77 (+5) he followed this with a 75 to comfortably make the 36 hole cut mark before finishing off with a further 75 on the final day and a total of 227 (+11) just 8 shots behind the winner England's Ian Crowther on 219.

Rowe had been joined in Wales by County Seniors Captain Simon Harper (St Austell) along with Malcolm Edmunds (West Cornwall) and Mike Wigley (Trevose). For these three the Welsh trip was not quite so enjoyable as all failed to make the cut.
