Another Welsh Trip for the Duchy Team

Tuesday 27th June 2017

CL Glamorgan v Cornwall Sunday 2nd July 2017 The Glamorganshire GC

The Cornwall Mens Team will travel to Wales again this coming weekend to take on Glamorgan in the team's second Channel League match of 2017. Having won away to Gwent in the first match at the end of April, the team will be looking to complete an away double at Welsh expense.

Glamorgan too have only played the one fixture to date which resulted in an away win in Devon.

County Mens Captain David Kneebone takes a team to Wales with a slightly different appearance. Truro GC's 20 year old Jamie Crocker - pictured above left with Jared Mortimore - gets his full county debut as does his 16 year old former clubmate and junior Joe Reynard, now at Trevose. The recently crowned County Junior Champion Simon Hobbs makes his second appearance for the county team having made his debut in the win in Gwent.

The other 7 members of Kneebone's team all represented Cornwall at the SWCGA Championship earlier this month.

The full team is: Joe Cruse (St Enodoc), Tom Fox (China Fleet), Ryan Curtis (Bude & N Cornwall), Matt Richards (West Cornwall)  Jared Mortimore (Truro), Jamie Crocker, Aaron Stephens (Newquay) Simon Hobbs (Bowood Park), Rob MacGregor (Tehidy Park) and Joe Reynard.

Kneebone says "We would very much like to keep our winning run in the Channel League going. A win would put us in prime position with 2 home games to follow. Yes we have a young side but they are gaining great experience all the time. I am pleased the future is bright and that the experienced players are now looking over their shoulders at the younger ones coming through."
