U14s to face Wiltshire for First Time

Thursday 8th June 2017

Wiltshire v Cornwall Jack Roberts League Sunday 11th June 2017 Chippenham GC

Cornwall's U14s will travel to play their Wiltshire counterparts for the first time in competition this weekend. The four competing counties agreed to Wiltshire's request to join the Jack Roberts League in the close season and the two will face each other on Sunday 11th June 2017 at Chippenham GC, a tree lined parkland course renowned for the quality of its greens and also offering some great views over the surrounding Wiltshire countryside.

The Cornwall side was named recently by U14s Manager Simon Wood and includes the newly crowned County U12s Champion Archie Fox (Falmouth). This will be the second Jack Roberts match of the season for the U14s who lost their first encounter at home to Devon, just under 3 weeks ago. The team will be looking to bounce back with their own away win.

The full Cornish U14 team is Thomas Stephens (Captain, Truro), Liam Wilson (Truro), Zack Cook & Will Price (Perranporth), Archie Fox, Charlie Ward (Launceston), Matthew Lamb (Tehidy Park) and Jack Kevern (West Cornwall). Two non travelling reserves named are  Alec Nile (Carlyon Bay) and Jack Chudleigh (St Enodoc).

There may be mixed emotions for Chippenham PGA Professional Nick Horrocks who recently moved there from Staddon Heights GC, Plymouth and who was previously a member and represented St Mellion for a number of years. Horrocks represented both Devon and Cornwall st junior level.
