U18 Teams Selected for Friendlies with County Seniors & Devon

Tuesday 15th February 2022

CGU County U18s Team Manager has named two teams for upcoming matches against the County Seniors Team and Devon.

The U18 Boys team start their season on Monday 21st February as they face-off against a County Seniors team at Perranporth GC in their annual pre-season friendly match. With many of last year's U18 team no longer eligible, several juniors will be stepping up to make their U18 debuts and join last year's team members: Ethan Tempest, Jack Kevern, Isaac D'Bue, Connor Vanstone, William Hardwick and Ryan Gregory.

U18 Team Manager, Andrew Kevern, has selected a squad of 12 boys for this fixture which will be led by new County Junior Captain, Tempest, from West Cornwall GC.

Team v County Seniors: Ethan Tempest (Captain), Jack Kevern, Jonty Jenkin (all West Cornwall), Charlie Ward (Launceston), William Hardwick (Perranporth), Ryan Gregory, (St Mellion), Connor Vanstone (Bude), Hugo Watson, (Carlyon Bay), Isaac D'Bue, Archie Fox, Harry Drewett and William Sercombe (all Falmouth)

Three days later, the U18 team will be back in action, once again at Perranporth, as they face their Devon counterparts in another 'friendly' fixture.

For this stroke play match-up, with aggregate team scores counting, Kevern has selected a team of 10.

Team v Devon Thursday 24th February: Ethan Tempest (Captain), Jack Kevern, Jonty Jenkin, William Hardwick, Ryan Gregory, Connor Vanstone, Hugo Watson, Jack Welch (Whitsand Bay) Thomas Miller and Heath Coombes (both Newquay)

Both of these matches, coupled with the Junior Spring Meeting at Bude & North Cornwall in March and the St Enodoc Junior Open in early April, will give the team management a good guide as to which players are consistently performing to the expected levels in order to put themselves forward for selection to the 8-person team for the South West Four Counties Championships taking place at Exeter Golf and Country Club during the Easter holidays.
