England Golf Awards 2022

Congratulations have to go to Bowood Park Golf Club who have today been shortlisted in the England Golf Awards Club of the Year category.

The family-run club offered free coaching to all juniors and sparked a growth in membership from 187-350 in just two years. As an added string to their bow the club has a green ambition to become carbon negative by 2026 with an on site energy providing wind turbine, and solar panels which light up the club's driving range.

Set in the heart of North Cornwall in 230 acres of rolling hills and woodland, designated an Area of Special Landscape Value, the Bowood Park Hotel & Golf Club once formed part of a 13th-century deer park owned by the Black Prince. The club was introduced to the golfing fraternity in June 1992, and is synonymous with value for money society days and residential golf breaks. The golf course recently featured in Golfshake.com's top 100 good value golf courses.

Bowood Park has been a regular stop on the CGU competition circuit and this year is no exception as the club will host the Cornwall Seniors County Championship and home matches for the Duchy in the Seniors Channel League

The England Golf awards will be presented on 20th April 2022 in a virtual ceremony hosted by broadcaster, journalist and avid golfer Naga Munchetty.

Other awards to be presented include Women and Girls Trailblazer, Diversity and Inclusion Champion, County of the Year (Cambridgeshire, Kent and Middlesex are the contenders), Sustainability Project of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Young Ambassador of the Year. Cornwall's own Emily Toy features as part of the England Women's team nominated in the Performance of the Year category for their win in the European Team Internationals.

Well done Bowood Park and we One and All wish you well!
