Late Changes for Tomorrow's Somerset Match

Saturday 31st July 2021

CL Cornwall v Somerset Sunday 1st August 2021 Enmore Park GC

County Captain Charlie Phillips (above left, Newquay) and his Vice Captain Peter Simmons (above right, Truro) are likely to have to step into the breach tomorrow as the long term pandemic impacts further on selection of the County Mens Team.

Having already been forced to make changes to his original selection for the Channel League match versus Somerset tomorrow at Enmore Park, Bridgewater, Phillips learned of an eleventh hour withdrawal early this morning as he was about to hit the road for the teams afternoon practice round. It means Phillips and Simmons or both are likely to play a part.

Already having dealt with the withdrawals of Alex McHugh and Jared Mortimore, replaced by Mark Grootz (Trevose)  and junior Josh Chapman (Tehidy Park) respectively, Phillips was early today advised of the enforced absence of Joe Reynard (Trevose).

The full team now is: Tom Fox, Josh Chapman, Justin Barnard all (Tehidy Park), Matt Richards (West Cornwall), Tom Stephens, Mark Grootz (both Trevose), Jon Hancock Newquay), Kieran Faulkner (Looe), George Champion (Truro) plus Phillips and Simmons.

Needless to say the dilemma will not faze either on the basis of their long term experience of representing the Duchy. Come on you stalwarts!
