Changes Likely for 2021-22 Winter Knockout Programme
Tuesday 2nd February 2021
With a programme of competitions now booked for 2021, the customary Club Team Entry forms will be circulated this week. These include entries to the 2021-22 Winter Knockout programme, where there will be changes aimed at this year only.
The Cornwall Team Championship will continue in its traditional format and is unaffected.
Why are there changes coming for the other knockouts? The Committee has met frequently and remains very conscious start times at weekends are likely to be in great demand and requesting neutral venues to stage considerable numbers of matches may not be straightforward.
- The Presidents Trophy will have its own Sunday and no longer clash with CTC matches.
- It is likely the Presidents Trophy, Frank Wills Salver and Cornwall Bowl will be drawn with the first team out of the hat hosting the match and with a full re-draw after respective rounds.
- WHS Handicap Index limits applicable to these competitions are under consideration.
Full details of all changes and the reasons for them will be announced at the online CGU General Meeting on 25th March 2021 and published more widely thereafter.
Dates for the various rounds of the Winter Knockouts can be viewed here Please note these dates differ from earlier circulations and publication.
Naturally we all hope to be able to revert to the traditional formats for the 2022-23 Winter Knockout programme.
