Cornwall Golf Union County Captain Charlie Phillips (Newquay) has just announced a 23 man squad of players for the upcoming season.

In naming his squad Phillips said “As Cornwall County Golf Captain it is my pleasure to announce the First Team Squad for the 2021 season. The squad is a great mixture of new and experienced players, who I know will blend together to be formidable opponents. With demands high on elite players, it is imperative to employ a rotation system to share the workload and for newer squad players to gain experience. Both my Vice-Captain, Peter Simmons, and I are keen to award team places on merit and to get selected to represent Cornwall you have to earn it.

Phillips added “Unfortunately the winter club knockouts have been cancelled but I have arranged some matches for the squad to get us ready for the start of the season. And of course, players who have not been selected for the squad can force their way in by good performances in local/national competitions and leave me no option but to include them.”
