WHS Two Days to Go!

Saturday 31st October 2020

The countdown to the launch of the new World Handicap System (WHS) on Monday 2 November is well and truly on.

In the build-up to the transition, England Golf is experiencing an unprecedented number of enquiries and they would like to thank you for your understanding of this fact and patience while they work to provide answers.

Competition Scratch Score (CSS) and Mapping of Tees

We are happy to provide clubs with an immediate update on the questions of CSS and mapping of tees.

All historical data regarding the CSS has now been successfully pulled from the old system and included on the new one

Our team is currently working to refresh elements of the new system which deal with the mapping of tees and courses

To help clubs prepare for the new handicapping system ‘going live’, England Golf has sent out four key items of messaging this week:

On MONDAY, clubs were reminded that their members could access the new WHS Golf Club Platform provided an individual’s email address and date of birth had been added to the platform by the relevant software provider.

On TUESDAY, Toolkit 2.0 was sent to all clubs – an updated version of the digital asset providing details and information on all the key aspects of WHS. This was targeted at clubs, committees and golf club staff to help them to further educate members on WHS.

On WEDNESDAY, clubs were issued with an important six-point checklist to be ticked off in advance of launch day.

On THURSDAY, England Golf distributed their golfer toolkit. This downloadable asset will help golfers to better understand the key elements of WHS such as their Handicap Index, how it’s calculated, Course and Slope Ratings and acceptable formats for scoring.

Please note: Clubs wishing to submit scores from any competitions this weekend must do so by 6pm on Sunday to ensure they are included in a data transfer to the new system.

From Monday golfers playing in a competition should play using their Handicap Index as displayed at the club or on the platform.

As always, England Golf remain on hand to support. Enquiries relating to technical aspects of the WHS Platform should be directed to their support email address whs.support@englandgolf.org
