Junior Team Golf England Final Sunday 25th October 2020 Romanby GC, Yorkshire

Falmouth Juniors have done it again.

In yesterday's English final of the Junior Team Golf (JTG) managed competition, the six juniors finished runners up by just the one shot in the English Final, which was staged a long way from home, over the parkland championship course at Romanby Golf & Country Club, Yorkshire. And what's more we will be able to see some of the action soon as the event was televised by Sky Sports who will in time broadcast highlights.

As a real bonus, the Falmouth prize for coming second is a spot in the Home Nations Championship Final to be staged in February next year at Forest Pines Spa & Golf resort nr. Scunthorpe when the team will face winners and runners up from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.Normally the Home Nations Final would be staged in Portugal but a decision was made by the organisers to stage this in England because of the uncertainty surrounding foreign air travel and potential quarantine restrictions etc. Falmouth become the first Duchy team to qualify to play in the Junior Team Golf Home Nations Championship Final.

JTG Organiser David Last said "For a number of years now the JTG team have been striving to identify a Bolitho League club who could truly represent all that is good in Cornwall junior golf. So Congratulations to the Falmouth team on being worthy runners up and thereby becoming the first Cornwall team to qualify to play in the Junior Team Golf Home Nations Championship Final. Finally, I would be grateful if you could pass on to your players that they not only created Cornwall history on the day but helped create a piece of National golf history - which we all hope will never be repeated as Falmouth participated in the final of one of only two golf team competitions which were played in UK during 2020 - the other one being in Scotland.  All of us at Junior Team Golf are now very proud of the fact that we decided to "give it a whirl" at the end of June and can now look back and say - we have achieved, with a lot of help from our extended JTG family, what most golf thought was "Mission Impossible". We now look forward to welcoming Falmouth to the Home Nations Final where I am sure they will once again do themselves , the club and the Cornwall Golf Union proud.
