Pat Crowson

Wednesday 23rd September 2020

The Cornwall Golf Union was very saddened to hear of the death of Pat Crowson on Friday 18th September 2020.

Many of you will have enjoyed Pat’s company humour and wise counsel.  She was a great supporter of the Cornwall Ladies County Golf Association including as County Secretary and Voting Member for a number of years, whilst a member at Killiow.  She was along with Gerry Fitter a leading force in what was the Cornwall Golf Partnership. Pat had become particularly active on behalf of the game she came to love after a distinguished career in local government where she was the Chief Executive of Restormel Borough Council.

After her stewardship of the CLCGA, Pat became a member of the England Golf Board from 2015 to 2019 and was a strong supporter of the SW Region at both Ladies and Men’s levels. During her time on the Board Pat became a fully qualified Tournament Panel Referee and a member of the R&A Championship Committee.

England Golf Chairman Nic Coward paid tribute to Pat - "On a personal level, she was a deeply thoughtful, knowledgeable and hard working advocate for ladies golf and the sport as a whole, and someone on whom we could all rely for her wisdom and cheeriness. We will miss Pat very much."

I know the golfing community in Cornwall will all wish to convey condolences to Pat's husband John (a past Secretary at Killiow GC) and her two daughters Natalie and Amelia.
