Cornwall v Devon Friendly Sunday 2nd August 2020 Launceston GC

CGU County Captain Charlie Phillips has named a new look 12 man team for a friendly encounter with neighbours Devon at Launceston on Sunday 2nd August 2020.

With next to no inter county golf being played this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the team provides Phillips with a look at some new blood blended with some more experienced players.

First the host venue's Richard Jasper, followed by Josh Greenaway (St Enodoc), Conor Wilson (Perranporth), Tom Fox (Mullion), Aaron Stephens (Newquay) and 2020 Cornish Closed runner up Matt Richards (West Cornwall).

New to the Men's county scene come the Mullion pairing of Josh Chaplin and Jamie Greet. the latter shooting a one under 71 during the Closed championship. Also in are the Tehidy Park pair of Club Championship runner up Justin Barnard and winner Josh Chapman, the latter a junior. Newquay greenkeeper Joe Ibbs-George gets the call after strong recent performances as does Carlyon Bay's junior Alec Nile who drew attention to himself also with a 1 under par second round in the Closed.

On the day the two teams will set out from 1.00pm playing four ball betterball matchplay.

The full team: Richard Jasper, Jamie Greet, Josh Greenaway, Josh Chaplin, Conor Wilson, Joe Ibbs George, Tom Fox, Justin Barnard, Aaron Stephens, Josh Chapman, Matt Richards and Alec Nile.

Other opportunities to attract Phillip's attention will come at the in county CGU Maxam Cup at St Austell GC in August and during County Week at St Austell in September, when the County Championship will take place.
