The Championship Committee is very mindful of the restrictions placed on golf as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and as a result will take a number of steps to ensure the safety of all concerned in the staging of these events. It is also aware that further restrictions may yet impact on the planned programme. As already outlined the CGU Secretary will contact clubs in respect of a number of the competitions listed.

The Championship Committee approved proposals as follows

  • Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will no longer be an option to pay a cash entry fee on the day of a competition. All entry fees are to be paid in advance - either through the online entry system or by way of bacs transfer to the CGU account No. 00015677 at Sort Code 30-95-08.
  • The Royal Cornwall Goblets competition for 2020 will not take place

The Junior Committee also met earlier this week and there will be some changes to the George Bolitho, Kernow Cup and Brain Gripe Junior Summer Knockout competitions. Details of these changes will be circulated separately. The CGU Junior Order of Merit for 2020 is cancelled.

CGU President Andrew Clotworthy expressed the wish early in the covid-19 crisis the CGU should stage as many competitions as possible for the benefit of the membership. With an ongoing fair wind we will have achieved this and a big thanks to all involved!

If anyone has questions surrounding this then please get in touch with CGU Secretary Chris Pountney.
