Dear One & All
Well done to Josh Greenaway (Bowood GC) who retained the 2011/12 Winter Golf Series Order of Merit ahead of Matt Richards (West Cornwall GC), who finished in second place.
A big thank you must go to Truro & Penwith College for the sponsorship of the 2011/12 WGS. A huge thank you to the clubs that allowed us to utilise their great courses during last winter at reduced rates: West Cornwall, Perranporth, Newquay, Trevose & St Enodoc.
The new 2012/13 WGS dates have been set and the events will once again be co-ordinated by Simon Wood - Cornwall Golf Development Officer. Simon did a great job last year and he will be heading up the co-ordination and tournament management this winter.
The 2012/13 dates are as follows:
Entry Fee £16/event (£10 per junior). There will be gross & nett prizes at each event.
Hot News: This WGS season we will be opening the events for ALL single figure handicap golfers from Cornish clubs. So whether you wish to get down into 'Category One' or whether you want to beat the County's top amateurs, this is a chance to do just that.
Entries are such that we can only accommodate 40 or so players at each event.
To enter the gross Order of Merit you must play at least four events. A player’s top four event placings will be calculated for the Order of Merit and the top 8 players (plus 2 wildcards) will play a match in the Spring 2013 against Cornwall Professionals. The Pro's have narrowly won the last three matches so this year it will be fourth time lucky!
The Order of Merit will have prizes for the top 4 places (Prize fund TBC but it is anticipated that it will be similar to last year).
To enter the first event (23rd September 2012 @ West Cornwall GC) email Simon Wood with your name, club & current exact handicap & then pay your entry fee on the day.
